Here’s a list of the basic types of lotions that will help you tan faster, darker, and stay tan longer.

1. Moisturizers, Maximizers, Accelerators 

These terms are all used to name the most basic type of lotion. These lotions keep your skin moist, which is extremely important in the tanning process. Many of these lotions use hemp as their main ingredient, which is great because hemp oil is very comparable to human body oil. These lotions will prevent the heat and light from drying your skin. Because moist skin tans best, we recommend you moisturize before and after each tanning session to get the most out of each visit.

2. Bronzers 

There is a lot of confusion with this lotion’s name. These lotions will not make your skin “orange” or dye your skin. A bronzing lotion will give you some immediate color along with the same moisturizing properties of an accelerator. These are great for people with fair skin, it will tone down any “pink” color when you first begin tanning.

3. Tinglers, Sizzlers, Hot Lotion

These are the lotions that make your skin hot! A tingler brings the blood to the skin’s surface. This allows your skin to tan more readily. Be careful with these if you are just starting out. They can make you feel somewhat uncomfortable and leave your skin red for 1-2 hours.

4. Cosmetic Bronzers

If your looking to achieve a higher level of tan, use a cosmetic bronzer. These lotions will give you an immediate brown color. Along with moisturizing, a cosmetic bronzer will dye your skin. You should apply this lotion on evenly to prevent streaking. Make sure you wash your hands after your tanning session to prevent dying the palms of your hands.
